Continuation Bet (C-Bet)

A bet on the flop by the player who made the last raise before the flop.

The preflop raiser "continues" the story of a strong hand. Opponents miss most flops (an unpaired hand pairs on the flop only about a third of the time), so a c-bet often wins the pot immediately.

Modern players c-bet small and often on dry boards, and more selectively on wet boards where opponents connect more often.

Example

You raise with AK, get one caller, and bet one third of the pot on 952.
