Expected Value (EV)
The average amount a decision wins or loses if repeated many times.
Poker is a game of +EV decisions. A call that wins $100 a third of the time and loses $40 two thirds of the time has an EV of (1/3 × 100) − (2/3 × 40) = +$6.67. Results swing, but EV is what you control.
