Nuts
The best possible hand given the community cards at that moment.
The nuts can change street by street. Holding the "stone-cold nuts" means you cannot lose. The "second nuts" is the second-best possible hand, and the "nut flush draw" is a draw to the highest flush.
Example
On K9427, a player holding the A plus any other heart has the nut flush. With no pair or straight-flush draw on board, nobody can beat it.

- Where does the term "the nuts" come from?
- The common story says Old West players bet the nuts from their wagon wheels, because the wagon could not leave without them. It is a nice tale with little evidence behind it.
